IOQ Terms of Use

Last updated: 2 August 2026

1. Agreement

By creating an IOQ account, accessing the app, or using any IOQ features, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use IOQ.

When these Terms are updated, IOQ may require you to review and accept the latest version before continuing to use the platform.

Your acceptance applies to your account and to the active IOQ features you choose to use, including account access, public discovery, business profiles, business services, booking or enquiry actions, promotions, digital book and e-book hosting workflows, WhatsApp-related actions, QR/share links, notifications, reports, plan limits, uploads, and related support or security records.

If IOQ introduces a new feature, or materially changes how an existing feature works, your continued use of that feature is also subject to these Terms and any in-product notices or feature-specific conditions shown at the time of use.

2. What IOQ is (and is not)

IOQ helps customers discover local businesses and helps businesses, creators, and authors publish information customers or readers can act on. Active functionality includes account/profile tools, explore and category discovery, public business pages, business services and offers, digital book and e-book hosting workflows, booking or enquiry actions where available, promotions and media, QR/share links, WhatsApp/call contact actions, notifications, plan limits, and simple operational reporting.

IOQ is not:

  • a law enforcement service,
  • an emergency response provider,
  • a guaranteed safety solution,
  • a guarantee that a customer, business, booking, enquiry, promotion, or contact action will produce a sale, booking, response, or other outcome,
  • a party to external transactions or agreements between users and businesses.

3. Eligibility

You must be legally able to form a contract where you live. If you use IOQ on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity.

4. Account responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information and keep it updated,
  • protect your login credentials,
  • immediately notify IOQ if you suspect unauthorized access.

To protect account security and reduce abuse, IOQ may enforce active device/session limits. Where enabled, your account can be limited to a maximum number of concurrently active devices (for example, two).

If you attempt to sign in from an additional device after the active-device limit is reached, IOQ may require explicit confirmation before continuing and may sign out/revoke the oldest active device session.

You are responsible for activity under your account unless prohibited by law.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use IOQ to:

  • break the law or encourage others to do so,
  • harass, threaten, stalk, dox, extort, or defraud anyone,
  • post illegal content or content that violates others’ rights,
  • attempt to hack, disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or overload the service,
  • impersonate others or misrepresent affiliations,
  • use IOQ data, listings, profile details, maps, reports, or feature outputs to build competing datasets, surveillance workflows, or unauthorized lead lists,
  • submit false place, business, booking, contact, promotion, pricing, ownership, or identity information,
  • send unlawful, misleading, unsolicited, or non-compliant marketing through IOQ-related contact or WhatsApp flows.

IOQ can remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.

6. User content

You may be able to post content (text, images, listings, messages, etc.). You keep ownership of your content, but you grant IOQ a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute it only as needed to operate and improve the service.

You confirm you have the rights to the content you post and that it doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights.

6A. Active feature responsibilities

By using a feature, you confirm that you intend to use that feature for its proper purpose and that you accept the rules, risks, and responsibilities attached to that feature under these Terms.

  • Account, login, profile, and security flows: you consent to authentication, session management, and account-protection controls.
  • Explore, category, public page, save, share, and contact actions: you accept that these help discovery and action but do not guarantee accuracy, availability, response, or outcome.
  • Business profiles, services, offers, bookings, promotions, digital books, e-book hosting submissions, WhatsApp actions, and reports: you accept responsibility for submitted content, contact settings, customer-facing claims, images, prices, availability, uploaded files, and assets you publish or distribute.
  • Plans, usage limits, credits, and upgrade prompts: you accept the active usage and anti-abuse rules shown in-product or in plan materials at the time of use.
  • Google-linked, mapping, messaging, WhatsApp, hosting, media storage, and other third-party dependent features: you accept that these may be affected by provider limits, policy changes, outages, accuracy issues, or revocation of access.

If you do not intend to accept the rules for a feature, you must not use that feature.

7. Real-world interactions and safety

Real-world interactions carry risk. You agree:

  • you are responsible for your decisions and conduct offline,
  • you will use good judgment and take reasonable safety precautions,
  • IOQ does not guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of other users,
  • public pages, contact actions, booking requests, directions, and shared links are assistive tools and may contain incorrect, outdated, or unavailable information.

IOQ (I Own Quarters / IOQs) is a discovery, publishing, and action platform only. Once users and businesses communicate, transact, visit a place, make a booking, or meet, all participation, communication, movement, and outcomes are at their own risk and responsibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IOQ is not responsible for incidents, losses, disputes, injuries, damages, misconduct, failed bookings, failed enquiries, non-responses, or criminal acts arising from user-arranged or business-arranged interactions.

8. Business pages, services, bookings, and promotions

Businesses can use IOQ to publish business information, services, offers, media, promotions, public links, QR links, WhatsApp contact paths, call actions, and related customer-action routes. You are responsible for keeping that information accurate and lawful.

  • Business details, service descriptions, prices, availability, images, addresses, contact options, and claims must be accurate and must not mislead customers.
  • Booking and enquiry actions are request or contact workflows unless IOQ clearly states otherwise in-product. A request does not guarantee acceptance, attendance, stock, service availability, or customer follow-through.
  • Promotional images, captions, templates, and media must be owned by you or used with proper permission.
  • WhatsApp or campaign-style messages must comply with applicable consent, marketing, consumer protection, and platform rules. You are responsible for the lawfulness of customer lists, message content, and follow-up conduct.
  • IOQ may reject, remove, limit, or suspend business content, campaigns, uploads, links, or account actions that create legal, safety, fraud, provider-compliance, or reputation risk.

8A. Digital books and e-book hosting

Authors may use IOQ e-book hosting workflows to submit author details, book metadata, proposed selling details, cover images, manuscript or PDF files, and related support information for review and setup.

  • You confirm that you own or control the rights needed to submit, host, sell, preview, publish, and distribute the book content and related assets you provide.
  • Submitting an intake form does not guarantee approval, publication, sales, payment processing availability, reader access, promotion, or any specific commercial outcome.
  • IOQ or Reify Maxim Group may review, validate, reject, request changes to, or decline submitted books, author information, files, pricing, descriptions, covers, and related claims.
  • Uploaded book files and covers are handled for operational review, setup, hosting, support, and record-keeping. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, confidential, or unauthorized material.
  • IOQ may run local or server-side quality assurance checks, extraction, structure analysis, EPUB generation, EPUB validation, diagnostics, and artifact review before approving or publishing an e-book.
  • Quality assurance tools and diagnostics are support aids only. A passed technical validation does not guarantee commercial success, editorial quality, legal clearance, reader compatibility on every device, or final approval.
  • IOQ may block, hold, or request changes to a book where validation, diagnostics, metadata, page rendering, accessibility checks, payment readiness, rights concerns, or operational review indicate a risk.
  • Where reader purchase and access flows are enabled, payment availability, fulfilment, access controls, refunds, disputes, and delivery timing may depend on third-party providers and operational review.
  • WhatsApp confirmations, invitations, and follow-up messages may be used for author onboarding or service communication, subject to applicable consent, provider, and template-message rules.

9. Plans, limits, and access

IOQ may show plan names, plan benefits, usage limits, upgrade prompts, credits, or feature availability rules. These rules help manage fair usage, abuse prevention, and product access.

  • Plan details may control available business tools, promotion allowances, media limits, visibility options, credits, or other active counters.
  • IOQ may change future plan packaging, limits, or pricing with reasonable notice where required.
  • Access may be limited, paused, or adjusted where fraud, abuse, provider rules, or technical constraints require it.

10. Reports and business records

IOQ may provide simple reports, counters, activity records, or exports based on available in-product data. Reports are for operational reference only and may be incomplete, delayed, estimated, or affected by device, browser, provider, or tracking limitations.

You are responsible for reviewing report content before relying on it or sharing it externally.

11. Third-party services

Some features rely on third-party services, including hosting, media storage, maps/place lookup, Google sign-in or place data, WhatsApp or messaging channels, email delivery, and analytics/error monitoring. IOQ is not responsible for outages, policy changes, accuracy issues, delivery failures, or actions of third-party services.

Share links and deep links, including WhatsApp, map/navigation, call, QR, and external profile links, are executed by third-party apps and may render differently by client/device.

Where you connect an external account, grant permissions, or trigger a third-party dependent action, you authorize IOQ to send and receive the minimum necessary data needed to operate that feature, subject to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Third-party providers may independently apply their own eligibility rules, quotas, geographic restrictions, moderation controls, pricing, account holds, or API limitations. IOQ may suspend, limit, or remove a dependent feature if required by provider terms, technical constraints, abuse-prevention controls, or legal obligations.

12. Intellectual property

IOQ’s software, branding, designs, and other IP are owned by IOQ or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works except as allowed by law or written permission.

13. Service availability and changes

IOQ may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We try to keep IOQ available, but uptime is not guaranteed.

Features may be added, removed, gated, tested, renamed, rate-limited, or made available only to selected accounts, territories, business contexts, or plans. Screens, flows, labels, and prompts visible in the product do not by themselves guarantee that a feature is active, available, or included in your current access.

14. Termination

You may stop using IOQ at any time. IOQ may suspend or terminate accounts for violations, security reasons, legal compliance, or risk management.

IOQ may also pause or restrict specific integrations, reports, business actions, contact actions, campaigns, or plan-linked features without terminating the full account where narrower action is reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, provider compliance, or operational integrity.

15. Disclaimers

IOQ is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, IOQ disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, IOQ is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits/data, arising from your use of IOQ.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the minimum allowed by law.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, unless mandatory local law says otherwise.
